SPARTANS CLINCH BIG TEN TITLE OUTRIGHT

Michigan State held on in Bloomington Tuesday night for a 64-59 win over Indiana clinching the Spartans' first outright Big Ten men's basketball title since 1999. It was 58-56 State after the Spartans went 8 1/2 minutes without scoring a field goal. But Raymar Morgan's rebound putback sealed the win. MSU is now 14-3 in the league and 24-5 overall. MSU finished 8-1 in road Big Ten play. A final regular season game loses some luster at noon this Sunday against Purdue. It will be senior day for four Spartans-- Travis Walton, Idong Ibok, Marquise Gray and Goran Suton. Indiana falls to 1-16 with a final game at Wisconsin and the Hoosiers' of first year coach Tom Crean are now 6-23 overall. Crean was an asistant to Tom Izzo during the 1999 season before leaving to become head coach at Marquette.
