MICHIGAN EXTENDS HOCKEY COACHES' CONTRACT

Amid speculation he might retire, Michigan has extended hockey coach Red Berenson's contract one more year. It is a rolling one year agreement. Berenson is in h is 25th season as the Wolverinies' coach and he has taken his team to 18 consecutive NCAA tournaments.
Michigan has a bye in the first round of the CCHA playoffs which begin this week end. The Wolverines finished second in the league standings behind champion Notre Dame.
