The Detroit Tigers have avoided salary arbitration with pitcher Justin Verlander by agreeing to a one year deal for $3.675 million for the 2009 season. It's seven times more than what Verlander made last season. And his 2008 record wasn't exactly stellar eighter-- an 11-17 record and a 4.84 earned run average. Verlander made $500,000 last year. All of the Tigers' players are now under contract.
