Challenging times for the Michigan State hockey program-- the Spartans are in last place in the CCHA standings. They haven't lost to Lake Superior State in 14 straight games and the teams open a two game set tonight in Sault Ste. Marie. In my view returning the program tro stable footing offers as much of a challenge as Rick Comley has had as a coach over his 36 seasons behind a college bench. Less than two years after winning the national championship, the Spartans are down to a bare bones roster for their final ten regular season games. They've lost six players through the course of the year and Comley says his experience of dealing with tough times at Northern Michigan prepared him to deal with this season.
