ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez says he's nowhere near to hiring a new defensive coordinator, two weeks following Scott Shafer's resignation.
Rodriguez spoke Wednesday at halftime of the Michigan-Wisconsin men's basketball game.
He says he's "just started the preliminary stuff" and hasn't brought anybody for interviews.
He says he'll intensify the search after the holidays.
Shafer resigned in mid-December after his first season with the Wolverines. He coordinated a defense that gave up 347 points, the most in school history.
Rodriguez's team finished 3-9 in 2008, his first season with the Wolverines.
