ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Angela Tincher threw two complete-game 3-hitters for Virginia Tech, which beat No. 6 Michigan 1-0 and 6-1 in an NCAA Super Regional series Sunday to advance to its first College World Series.
The Hokies (49-17) began Sunday down 0-1 in the best-of-3 series after Michigan (52-8) won 1-0 Saturday in the Super Regional opener Saturday.
But after striking out 15 in a 1-0 opening victory Sunday, Tincher got some offensive help in the nightcap, a 6-1 Virginia Tech victory.
Virginia Tech scored four times in the third inning, using a Misty Hall 2-run single after Charisse Mariconda drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Hokies a 1-0 lead.
