DALLAS (AP) -- Former Detroit Pistons coach Rick Carlisle has been officially introduced as new coach of the Dallas Mavericks.
Carlisle says he plans to let the Mavericks' Jason Kidd run his heart out.
Dallas hired Carlisle over the weekend to replace Avery Johnson, who got the Mavericks to the NBA finals in 2006 but wore out his welcome with consecutive first-round playoff flops.
The team fired Johnson the morning after Dallas was ousted by New Orleans.
