Tigers Make a Deal

DETROIT (AP) -- The Tigers have swapped relief pitchers with the Colorado Rockies in a deal that cleared a Detroit roster spot for reliever Francisco Cruceta.
Detroit sent right-hander Jason Grilli to the Colorado Rockies for right-hander Zachary Simons, then assigned Simons to their Class-A affiliate in Lakeland.
Tigers spokesman Brian Britten says the team is calling up the right-handed Cruceta from AAA Toledo. He says Cruceta will be in uniform Friday when Detroit opens a series at the Minnesota Twins.
Detroit was visiting the New York Yankees Wednesday.
