EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan State forward Bryan Lerg has signed a two-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers.
The 22-year-old from Livonia will join the Oilers' American Hockey League affiliate Springfield Falcons, who are playing against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Penguins on Friday in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Lerg was a four-year player and two-year captain for the Spartans, who announced the signing on Wednesday.
He wrapped up his career last weekend when the Spartans lost to Notre Dame in an NCAA regional final. He scored 68 goals and had 60 assists in 169 career games.
Lerg was on Michigan State's 2007 national champion team.
