Larry Brown's agent says the Detroit Pistons coach is not parting ways with the team willingly.

Joe Glass says all the talk about a "buyout" suggests a mutual agreement, but he says that's not the case. Glass says Brown wants to coach the Pistons, but the team wants to "pay him off."

Both sides are still working on a deal to end Brown's five-year, $25 million contract signed two years ago. Meanwhile, Brown is resting in New York after being hospitalized for complications from hip surgery.

Brown has said that if his doctors give the OK, he wants to coach the Pistons next season. He led them to a NBA championship in 2004 and fell one victory short of another title this year.
