ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -- Detroit has released cornerback Fernando Bryant after four seasons with the Lions.
The 5-10, 175-pound defender signed with Detroit as an unrestricted free agent in 2004 after five seasons with Jacksonville.
His career totals include 509 tackles -- 435 of which were solo tackles -- seven interceptions and seven fumble recoveries.
Bryant played and started in 38 games for the Lions, including all 16 games last season.
Sixty-five of his 76 tackles in 2007 were of the solo variety. He had two interceptions last year.
Bryant played for Alabama in college. He was the Jaguars first-round pick -- and the 26th overall -- in the 1999 NFL draft.
