Wings Broadcaster To Undergo Surgery

DETROIT (AP) -- Detroit Red Wings television analyst Mickey Redmond is undergoing surgery Monday to have a small tumor on his lung removed.
The tumor was found during a recent examination. Redmond had successful lung cancer surgery in January 2003. Doctors treating the 60-year-old Redmond say the tumor was discovered early, and they expect he'll make a full recovery.
Redmond will return to the broadcast booth March 5 when the Red Wings face St. Louis at Joe Louis Arena.
Redmond played six seasons with the Red Wings from 1971-76. The right winger was the first 50-goal scorer in team history. He also played four seasons with Montreal, where he was a part of two Stanley Cup titles.
