JEANNETTE, Pa. (AP) -- Terrelle Pryor, considered the nation's top unsigned high school football player, will announce his choice -- probably either Michigan or Ohio State -- during a nationally televised news conference Wednesday.
Pryor, a 6-foot-6 Jeannette High School quarterback chosen Sunday as the Parade Magazine player of the year, said last week he might delay his decision past the national letter of intent day Wednesday. He could wait until as late as April 1 to sign.
Pryor was weighing whether to visit Oregon and, possibly, Penn State, but he said Monday he has ruled out playing for Oregon. The Ducks were seen as a strong contender for Pryor because they run the spread offense Pryor prefers.
Pryor, also an all-state basketball star, has been juggling recruiting visits and meetings with his basketball games. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel, Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez and assistants from both schools were at Jeannette High's game Saturday night.
Pryor also won't make an official visit to Penn State, but Pryor said that wasn't a problem because he is so acquainted with the school and its staff.
Penn State coach Joe Paterno visited last week with Pryor, the only quarterback in Pennsylvania high school history to run for and throw for more than 4,000 yards.
Pryor's announcement will be made in the school gym and will be televised by ESPNU and CSTV. Pryor is considered the top player in the country by and and was chosen as the MVP last month in U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion.
