Drew Neitzel Named Big Ten Player Of The Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's basketball senior guard Drew Neitzel was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Jan. 28. In wins over Northwestern and Michigan, Neitzel averaged 19.0 points, 6.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds, shooting .583 from the field and .500 from 3-point range. This is the first weekly accolade for Neitzel this season, and the fourth of his career.

In a 78-62 road win at Northwestern, the preseason All-Big Ten honoree scored 20 points, connecting on six-of-10 three-point attempts and adding five assists. Against Michigan, Neitzel scored a team-best 18 points and added seven assists and a season-high seven rebounds. Fifteen of his 18 points came in the first half as Michigan State got out to an eight-point halftime lead.

On the season, Neitzel is averaging 14.1 points and 4.8 assists (ranking second in the Big Ten). He has been strong over the last four games, averaging 17.5 points, including 19.0 in the last three. He is shooting .522 (24-of-46) from the field and .500 (18-of-36) from 3-point range over the last four, after shooting .273 (9-of-33) and .188 (3-of-16) in the first three league contests. On the season, he is shooting .437 from the field, including .433 from 3-point range, compared to .449 overall and .413 from 3-point range last season through 20 games.
