More Final Four Tickets for MSU Students

Michigan State University is making Final Four tickets available to about 800 students, about 200 more than students expected to get, the athletic department said Wednesday.

Athletics Director Ron Mason said the university made a special effort to accommodate all student ticket requests.

The athletic department originally planned to offer 600 of the 4,500 tickets allocated to the university for the men's Final Four to students who have season tickets in the Izzone, the student section named after head coach Tom Izzo.

Mason said the normal allotment for student tickets is 644. But this year, he said the university wanted to make sure all student requests were filled.

"It was a challenge to reallocate tickets, but it was worth the time and effort," Mason said in a written statement.

Students will be seated in the lower level, behind a basket. The tickets are $170 apiece.

It was unclear Wednesday afternoon how the additional student tickets would affect those available for other groups, including regular-season ticket holders and university donors.

Michigan State plays North Carolina on Saturday night in St. Louis. The winner plays in Monday night's championship game against the winner of Saturday's first semifinal between Louisville and Illinois.
