The owners of the Detroit Red Wings say they're sorry for no hockey this year.
Mike and Marian Ilitch placed a full-page ad in the sports sections of Detroit's two major newspapers. They say they're "extremely sorry" the Red Wings didn't play because of the lockout.
They also thanked fans for their loyalty.
The NHL last month became the first major sports league in North America to lose an entire season to a labor dispute.
