MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Giordan Watson scored 12 points and made seven assists for Central Michigan, which held Eastern Michigan to 17 first-half points on the way to a 62-53 victory Sunday.
Central Michigan (6-7) forced Eastern Michigan to make 16 first-half turnovers to take a 32-17 lead at intermission. It was the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams.
The Eagles (4-9) turned the ball over 23 times for the game, leading to 29 Chippewas points.
Watson scored 11 of his 12 points in the second half, when Central Michigan led by as much as 19 points.
Jeremy Allen and Jordan Bitzer each had 11 points for the Chippewas, while Bitzer added five rebounds and five steals.
Zane Gay scored 10 points for Eastern Michigan, while Justin Dobbins had nine.
