UNDATED (AP) -- Michigan State wide receiver Devin Thomas will be leaving the Spartans next year to enter the NFL draft.
His father Dwight Thomas tells The Associated Press that "it's a done deal." He says the pro draft offers a prime opportunity for his 6-foot-2, 218-pound son.
Devin Thomas set a single-season Big Ten record with 1,135 yards on kickoff returns, including a career-high 178 yards in the Champs Sports Bowl.
He also set a single-season school mark with 79 receptions and 2,590 all-purpose yards.
Dwight Thomas tells the AP that Spartan head coach Mark Dantonio was disappointed when informed of his son's decision and tried to point out reasons for the senior to stay.
Thomas says his son has signed with agent Drew Rosenhaus.
