DETROIT (AP) -- The Red Wings say they have agreed to terms on a new contract that will keep Nicklas Lidstrom in town through the 2009-2010 season.
Terms of the 2-year pact are not being released.
Lidstrom is an 8-time NHL all star.
The 37-year-old has won five Norris Trophies and is the highest scoring defenseman in Red Wings history with 900 points in 15 seasons in Detroit.
Lidstrom has tallied 205 goals and 695 assists in 1,212 NHL regular season games.
He has punched in 3 goals and has 29 assists for 32 points in 36 games this season.
