Rodriguez Chooses Staff

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- A day after firing all the assistants on the Michigan football staff, coach Rich Rodriguez has brought one of them back.
A school spokesman says Fred Jackson was rehired today as running backs coach.
Retiring Michigan coach Lloyd Carr will lead the Wolverines on January first against Florida in the Capital One Bowl. After Carr ends his 13th season as head coach, Rodriguez will take over.
All of Carr's assistants were given two-year deals in March that will pay them through February 28th, 2009. Their firings are effective after the bowl game.
While helping Michigan prepare to play the Gators, the assistants are free to pursue other jobs. If they don't land a job, they still will be paid.
