NBA Corks Beer Sales

The NBA is limiting the size and number of beers sold at games. That's one of several new security measures taking effect next week. The guidelines are an attempt to prevent a repeat of the November brawl between fans and players at a game between Detroit and Indiana.

They also include having teams announce what type of fan behavior is considered unacceptable. And they cover the number of security officers teams should employ.

Commissioner David Stern tells The Denver Post the NBA could penalize teams that don't follow the guidelines. Stern says fans who become unruly "might not see the end of the game."

Five Indiana Pacers players and seven fans were charged in the melee in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Players went into the stands after a fan threw a full cup of beer at Indiana's Ron Artest.
