Rutgers coach Greg Schiano is staying in New Jersey. He has turned down overtures from Michigan.
It marks the second time in less than a week that Michigan has been rebuffed in its efforts to find Lloyd Carr's successor. Les Miles decided to remain at LSU on Saturday.
Miles has signed a contract extension that keeps him with the Tigers through 2012.
A Rutgers spokesman says Schiano told his players of his decision this morning.
