Authorities are charging just as many fans as players for their roles in last month's NBA brawl at a Pistons game.

Authorities say five Pistons fans face charges of assault and battery for hitting and pushing people during the melee.

One of those fans, Bryant Jackson, is also charged with felony assault. Police say he threw a chair into the crowd. That's the most serious charge stemming from the fight and could mean four years in prison for the man.

Jackson appeared briefly in a Rochester Hills court to sign papers related to the charges against him. He and his lawyer refused comment.

Officials have also charged five Indiana Pacers players with assault and battery. Four players, including Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson, face one count. If convicted, they could get three months in jail. A fifth player, Jermaine O'Neal, is charged with two counts.
