Pistons Play Shorthanded

By  |

Guard Chauncey Billups and forward Antonio McDyess sat out the Detroit Pistons' game against Golden State on Wednesday night with injuries.
Billups collided with Portland's Channing Frye in the third quarter of Detroit's 102-94 loss to the Trail Blazers on Tuesday night. The veteran point guard kept playing through a right hip flexor injury, but twisted his right knee later in the game.
He wasn't in the Pistons' starting lineup against the Warriors for their fifth game in seven days. Neither was McDyess, who aggravated his sprained left shoulder against the Blazers and didn't play the final 6 1/2 minutes.
Billups is averaging 17.7 points and seven assists, while McDyess has 9.1 points and 7.4 rebounds.
Flip Murray replaced Billups in Detroit's starting lineup, and Jason Maxiell filled in for McDyess.
