Justin Verlander gave up one run over seven innings, pitching the Detroit Tigers to a 9-1 win over the Chicago White Sox Tuesday night at Comerica Park. The win ended Chicago's 7-game winning streak. Johnny Damon hit a two run homer for the Tigers in the first inning. The Tigers are now 69-70 with 23 games remaining but they remain 12 games behind the Minnesota Twins who routed Kansas City Tuesday. The Tigers and White Sox play twice more in the series. Verlander now has a 15-8 season record.
