The annual St. Patrick's Parade is taking place in Detroit.
The parade is Sunday afternoon in the city's Corktown neighborhood, which gets its name from Ireland's County Cork. Thousands of people are expected for the event, which is sponsored by the United Irish Societies.
The parade is in its 52nd year.
Organizers say Detroit police plan to crack down on open alcohol at the event and will be ticketing for public intoxication. This year, participants won't be allowed to throw candy, beads or other items from floats.
St. Patrick's Day is Wednesday.
