Children in the Lansing School District hope to collect thousands of dollars for Haiti. Daveyon Clark is in the 4th grade at Bingham Elementary. He says, "We try to make enough money so we can donate it to Haiti."

The money from the school district will go to Doctors Without Borders. The students at Bingham are very aware that more help is needed for the children of Haiti. Tariq Love says, "We can help the doctors get supplies and medicine."

Meanwhile, 8-year-old Brady Goff of Mason brought his donation of more than $90.00 directly to the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross. Goff says, "I kind of felt bad for them because they had an earthquake and all that."

He asked family members, friends and teachers to donate to his personal campaign to help. Goff says, "I hope they get food and houses and all that and the electricity gets back on so they can leave on planes and get water."

The kids hope they inspire other kids and adults as well. Goff says, "We're pretty much rich compared to them so if we give money, they would gets lots of stuff to get back on their feet."

Bingham student Bryanna Moore says, "I think it's important that we think of other people instead of just ourselves."

So far the kids at Bingham Elementary alone have raised nearly $500.00 since Friday. Seventeen schools in the district have signed up to start collecting donations.
