Outgoing Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land is throwing her support for a successor behind state Sen. Cameron Brown.
Land said Monday in a statement that she is endorsing the Sturgis Republican heading into their party's nominating convention Saturday in East Lansing.
Brown is one of five people seeking to replace Land, who is finishing out her second term and is unable to seek re-election because of term limits.
The other GOP candidates are state Rep. Paul Scott of Grand Blanc, Calhoun County Clerk Anne Norlander, Oakland County Clerk Ruth Johnson and state Sen. Michelle McManus of Lake Leelanau.
Whoever receives the nomination will face likely Democratic nominee Jocelyn Benson in the November general election.
