Accounting Specialist

Description: Professional accountant responsible for complex financial data, accounting systems, methods, reports, and the evaluation and interpretation of financial data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards. Responsible for the integrity of the general ledger. Examines, analyzes and interprets accounting records for management. Maintain accurate accounting data and accurate reconciliations of accounts and fund balances involving the general and operating ledgers. Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and tax filings. Daily monitoring of College bank accounts, and performs transfers and banking when approved by management. Provide assistance to the Accounting Director by researching material for reports and special projects. Additional tasks as assigned. Duties: Multiple monthly bank reconciliations, monthly GL account reconciliations Process journal entries Research discrepancies Run month end reports Review daily feed documents from Student and Concur and reconcile Reconcile draw requests from Financial Aid Review and upload chargeback files Reconciling and processing 1099’s Assist with fixed assets reconciliation Assist with quarterly payroll filings and reconciliations Other duties as assigned Requirements: Strong accounting background with at least 3- 5 years experience in general ledger work with proven ability in research and problem solving. Experience in governmental fund accounting recommended. Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field Ability to manage multiple tasks and complete tasks on time. Proven communication skills Must have strong technical background in Accounting and Integrated General Ledger software systems Must be proficient in MSOffice products Beneficial to have working knowledge of IRS rules and regulations related to vendor and employee payment reporting requirements. Salary: $21.92 per hour

Description: Works within Project Choices, a managed care system designed to serve the elderly and the disabled who are at-risk of entering a nursing home by exploring their options and alternatives to institutional care. Care Managers complete comprehensive assessments of participants, with a strong emphasis on Person Centered Planning and client direction. Many of the specific duties listed below are mandated by the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging (OSA) Care Management Performance Objectives Essential job functions: (Reasonable accommodations will be provided, if necessary, for individuals with disabilities who can perform the essential job functions.) Assists clients with securing Medicaid eligibility for Waiver services. Using the principles of Person Centered Planning, develops care plans for each client addressing the individual’s specific needs and desires. Conducts assessments as a member of a professional team. Assessments include an evaluation of the consumer’s physical and mental health, functional capabilities and limitations, informal and formal support systems, physical environment and financial resources Arranges, coordinates and monitors the formal services which are necessary for the clients, including those covered through the Medicaid Waiver as well as the Care Management and Case Coordination Programs. As Primary Care Manager, monitors the cost of Medicaid Waiver services and other formal services to maximize resources and stay within program parameters and goals. Maintains accurate files with all the mandatory documents including OSA and Medicaid Waiver documentation. Completes follow-up of all services arranged as determined in the care plan and makes adjustments as needed. Provides advocacy on behalf of clients to secure services and benefits to which they are entitled and promotes client freedom of choice. Provides social/emotional support if desired by the clients and their families (i.e. case conferences, crisis intervention, etc.). Maintains shared caseload in conjunction with Social Workers. Updates knowledge in gerontology and chronic illness management through attendance at agency meetings and continuing education opportunities. Covers 24 hour on-call services as scheduled. When in the office, safe work practices in regard to office equipment, avoiding trips/falls and fire regulations are required. When traveling to or spending time at residential or medical facilities, exposure to unusual elements such as smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises and extreme temperatures increases. Physical mobility is required for sitting, walking, standing, bending and lifting/holding/carrying objects of up to 20 pounds. Must be able to move around in multiple locations with varying physical environments & barriers. Must be able to drive. Ability to enter and access information using a
computer. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, co-workers and vendors in person and over the telephone. Reports to: Nursing Supervisor Work location: Lansing, MI Work schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm Requirements: Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a current Michigan Nursing license in good standing. Must have two years of experience with geriatric nursing. Must possess a valid Michigan valid driver’s license in good standing (less than 4 points preferred) Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Sensory requirements include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, environments and activities. Mental requirements include the ability to handle varying and intense levels of stress.

Description: The Director of Strategic and External Relationships leads the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) outreach activities specifically related to proactive efforts to develop interdepartmental relationships within State government for multi-departmental projects. The Director’s primary role will be to provide facilitative and staff support for the Interdepartmental Collaborative Council (ICC). This will be accomplished by identifying problems and bringing together the relevant departments to determine solutions to the problems. This Director is also responsible for outreach to local partners to assure full knowledge and access to MEDC programs. Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Economic Development, International Studies or related field. This position requires a minimum of five to seven years of related experience and/or training in managing, developing and implementing economic development or government strategies and visions; market research, public speaking, and project management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in an economic development or government setting is preferred.
