Description: Assists in developing and analyzing high volume heat treatment and phosphate coating processes for the treatment of steel bar, castings and forgings, which entails applying the principles of deformation processes, thermodynamics of materials, kinetics and diffusion and material selection; developing quality control methods and conducting statistical analysis on various processes and methods; and using various heat treatment processes including annealing, normalizing, hardening and tempering and phosphate coating; and using inspection equipment such as optical microscopes, image analyzers, Brinell & Rockwell hardness testers, micro-hardness testers, scanning electron microscopes and metallographic equipment. Function in and assist in maintenance of the TS 16949 Quality Management System. Provide employee training, address customer concerns and prepare reports. Responsibilities • Assist customers with product quality problems, product information, prototype assistance and other special requests. • Specify the processing parameters for new jobs using purchase orders, specifications and drawings. • Write standard procedures, control plans, process specification sheets metallurgical reports following. Quality Core Tools procedures • Detect and analyze trends, if any, by careful review of X bar & R Charts, inspection logs, quality reports, inspection, furnace logs, etc. • Respond to customer complaints by completing a defined problem solving process with root cause analysis and a corrective action plan. Let employees, supervisors, managers, sales and Quality Manager/Plant Manager know of any complaints or problems. • Assists in maintaining complete and accurate quality records as prescribed by the Quality Management System. • Prepare standard procedures such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, Corrective Action Plans Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science or Metallurgy (curriculum emphasis on ferrous metallurgy) • 1+ years of similar industry experience (recent college graduates with internship experience will be considered). • The incumbent must possess excellent communication skills. • Strong written communications with the ability to write standard procedures, control plans, etc. • Must have the ability to work through thought provoking scenarios (root cause analysis & correction action plans). • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office • Must be an analytical thinker with strong attention to detail. • Candidate must possess a strong customer focus with the ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships (internal and external customers).
