YORK, Pa. -- A Pennsylvania woman says she hid her five children from the world because she ran away at 16 and wanted to stay in hiding.
The York Dispatch reports 34-year-old Louann Bowers entered a no-contest plea Wednesday to five counts of child endangerment.
Prosecutors say Bowers and the children were living in squalor in a dilapidated York home, but she denies they lived there.
The newspaper says Bowers admitted her conduct was wrong. She also admitted her children didn't get medical or dental care, didn't attend school and didn't have birth certificates.
Her sentencing is scheduled for June 22. Her lawyer says sentencing guidelines call for 15 months to five years in prison.
The children's father, Sinhue Johnson, is awaiting trial on the same charges.
