The Thai military has confirmed the deaths of nine people aboard an army helicopter that crashed on a mission to retrieve bodies from an earlier crash.
Lt. Gen. Udomdej Sitabutr, commander of Thailand's 1st Army Region, said the deaths were confirmed Friday when a search team of Thai and Myanmar soldiers and forestry officials reached the crash site on foot.
The Black Hawk helicopter crashed Tuesday during bad weather in a forested area near Myanmar. Those on board included an infantry division commander and a television cameraman.
The craft had been sent to retrieve the bodies of five soldiers killed in the crash of another helicopter last Saturday.
