HANOI, Vietnam (AP) -- State media say two Vietnamese state radio reporters were beaten by police and security guards during the high-profile evictions of farmers to make way for a privately built housing development.
A video posted on YouTube showed police and guards beating and kicking two men during the eviction last month. Radio Voice of Vietnam reporters Nguyen Ngoc Nam and Han Phi Long confirmed to Thanh Nien newspaper they were the two men in the video. State media identified them Tuesday.
A private company will develop the land in Hung Yen province near Hanoi for a satellite city.
The newspaper said the reporters have sent a petition and the radio station has sent a letter to the provincial government, which has yet to respond.
