Palm Desert, Calif. --- The family of former First Lady Mrs. Elizabeth B. (Betty) Ford would like to announce the following schedule which will include all phases during the celebration of her life. The national tribute will occur in two phases beginning in Palm Desert, Calif. and concluding in Grand Rapids, Mich.
On Tuesday July 12 immediately following a private visitation, the National Tribute service will begin at 11:20 am and will end at approximately 3:30 pm.
Following the service, the public is invited to pay their respects at repose from 5 p.m. to midnight.
On Wednesday the remains of Former First Lady Elizabeth B. (Betty) Ford will depart Saint Margaret Episcopal Church at 9 am and travel by motorcade to the Atlantic Aviation Terminal at Palm Springs International Airport.
A public departure ceremony will take place for invited guests at Palm Springs International Airport, Atlantic Aviation Terminal at 9:20 am.
At the conclusion of the departure ceremony, the remains will be flown by military aircraft to Gerald R. Ford International Airport will arrive at the Gerald R. Ford Museum, Grand Rapids, MI where she will be received at 5 pm.
Following a private service, Mrs. Ford’s remains will then lie in repose at the Gerald R. Ford Museum beginning at 7 pm and will continue into the night.
On Thursday July 14 the motorcade will depart the Museum at 12:15 pm, and travel to Grace Episcopal Church, 1815 Hall Street, Grand Rapids, MI. A private National Tribute service will be held at 2 pm.
At the conclusion of the Grace Church Service the family will return to the grounds of the Gerald R. Ford Museum where the private interment will be conducted.
