Everett Students Win Gold

Two students, who met through Project Unify, have an unspoken bond and it carried them all the way to a gold medal in the Special Olympics in New Jersey.

Leoudy Sosa & Tate Levendoski

Two Everett High School students are gold medal Special Olympians.

They met through Project Unify at Everett which matches students up with others with disabilities. Tate Levendoski, a sophomore, quickly became friends with senior Leoudy Sosa-- who's deaf. They often high-fived in the hallways, but the language barrier was soon broken down as Tate picked up sign language along the way. It only solidified their friendship.

The next thing you know they were paired up as Unified Bowling partners in the Special Olympics in New Jersey for Team Michigan. They won gold in their division last month and say they've become lifelong friends.

"Knowing that I'm going to fly here here to do something I love, for something so big," Levendoski said afterward. "Words can't describe (it)."

"I'm so proud of (Leoudy), the way he's bowled (and) the way we've become friends."
