A new scholarship contest aims to get people ready for a job in the film industry.
The Center for Film Studies, a film trade school in Madison Heights, will award one person a scholarship up to $5000.
All you have to do is write a 200-word or less essay on why you should get a free ride.
The deadline for the contest is October 10 and you have to be at least 18 years old to enter.
Entries should be mailed or dropped off to the Center for Film Studies at 899 East Whitcomb, Madison Heights, MI 48071.
Classroom work is held in Madison Heights, St. Clair Shores and Fraser, depending on the course desired.
Accredited courses for the 6-12 week hands-on intensive training include General Grip & Electrical, Advanced Grip, Electrical/Lighting, Set Carpentry & Construction, Props/Mold Making, Basic Makeup for Film & TV, Special Effect Makeup for Film & TV, Wardrobe for Film & TV and Production Assistant A-Z.
