If your student is itching to learn another language--- they can do it for free at a special camp this summer.
There are nearly 100 free tuition slots available for the Lansing School District's Chinese Language & Culture Camp.
There are 60 elementary slots and 40 middle and high school slots and enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The camp dates are July 27-31, August 3-7 and August 10-14. All sessions are 9am to noon and participants can sign up for one, two or three weeks. The elementary camp is at Henry H. North Elementary School on Miller Road in Lansing and the middle and high school camp is at MSU's Erickson Hall in East Lansing.
Elementary students will learn useful Chinese expressions and written characters, do handicrafts, learn songs, dance and games and hear Chinese folklore. Middle & high school students will learn the language and how to write it, participate in hands-on art and cultural activities and engage in discussions over cross-cultural differences.
