Okemos Teacher Named "Teacher of the Year"

A third-grade Okemos teacher has been named "Teacher of the Year" by the Michigan Department of Education.

The honor goes to Robert Stephenson at Wardcliff Elementary. Stevens was selected from 20 regional semi-finalists statewide.

State Superintend ant Michael Flanagan made the surprise announcement Thursday morning.

Stevens is a 15 year veteran of teaching. Meemic Insurance Company has donated a car to use for a year and has also donated $1,000 to Wardcliff.
