DELTA TOWNSHIP - Arson is suspected in a fire that destroyed two Grand Ledge School buses Friday morning and damaged a third.
The fire was reported at around 5 o'clock in the morning at the school's bus garage on Nixon road in Delta Township.

The chief of the Delta Township Fire Department says arson is the most likely cause considering it was raining heavily, the two buses that caught fire were 300 feet apart, and the buses had not been used in nearly 2 days because of school break. There is also evidence that some sort of fuel was used. There are no current suspects, but the investigation is ongoing.

Along with the two buses that were destroyed, a third bus was damaged as well as the door to the bus garage. The fire chief estimates $250,000 worth of damages.

If Wayne Baker is really a GL fire fighter, I hope he won't be by noon today. He should be "fired".

You're glad this happened?? Our community appreciates everything you do Wayne & with the economy downfall, I understand you needing to get paid. However, as a G.L. school employee, a little sympathy for the schools property would be nice! You're comment is kind of selfish. How would u feel if someone said to you, "Oh well, I'm glad you're house caught on fire...I was paid"...Sometimes comments like this should be kept to yourself.

Anonymous--why would you even post something like this? Our schools deserve our support in these trying times, not vicious innuendo and rumor mongering.

With the economy the way it is, this would look like an insurance fraud.

Hope they had good insurance or tax payers will be asked to pay for.If it was kids And they find out I feel sorry for parents, who may be responsible.Things like this just don't happen with no reason.Maybe it was lighting?Sad when no one has anything better to do,if done by humans.
