The Charlotte Public Schools Board adopts a controversial change to it's neighborhood school zones Monday.
Students were able to attend the Elementary School and Daycare of their choice, but now they will have to attend a school closest to their home.
The District says it will solve its complicated busing system and long bus rides home for students.
Parents protested the decision earlier this month, saying the change will eliminate bus transportation from a child's daycare to their school if it is located outside of the assigned school zone.
Weymouth Elementary School will now be designated for early childhood development.
The district says the changes will save them $750,000.
