GIRARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A Union City Elementary School teacher has been found fatally shot, and authorities have ruled the death a homicide.
The Daily Reporter of Coldwater and the Battle Creek Enquirer report the body of 41-year-old DeeDee Foley was found Saturday in her home in Branch County's Girard Township.
Michigan State Police and the county prosecutor's office say evidence at the scene led them to classify the death as a homicide.
Foley, who had her first name changed from Darlene last summer, was a teacher at Union City Community Schools for 19 years. She is survived by her husband, Tom, and a son who is a fourth-grade student.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday at the Union City High School gym.
