Consumer Alert: Cat Food Recall

One of the largest makers of pet food is voluntary recalling some cat food.
There are incorrect levels of zinc and potassium in NUTRO's "Natural Choice Complete Care" and "Max Cat" dry foods resulting from a production error by a US-based premix supplier.
Both zinc and potassium are essential nutrients for cats and are added as nutritional supplements to NUTRO dry cat food.
The affected products, with “Best If Used By Dates” between May 12, 2010 and August 22, 2010, were distributed to retail customer in all 50 states, as well as nine other countries.
No illnesses have been reported, but owners should monitor their cat for symptoms including a reduced appetite, weight loss or vomiting.
Customers can return the recalled products to the retailer for a full refund or exchange for another NUTRO(R) product.
Customers with more questions can contact the company at 1-800-833-5330 or click on the link below.

Many complaints have been made, one I know of with absolute certainty. NUTRO is simply denying it all. Cats are falling ill and dying--and they apparently don't care.
