Both General Motors and Chrysler are recalling tens of thousands of vehicles.
The affected GM vehicles are 1997-2003 Buick Regal, the 2000-2003 Chevrolet Impala, the 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina, the 1998-2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue and the 1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Some of the vehicles have a condition in which drops of engine oil may fall on the exhaust manifold through hard breaking. That could lead to an engine compartment fire.
Dealers will fix the problem for free when the recall begins in May. Owners can contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, Oldsmobile at 1-800-630-6537, and Pontiac at 1-800-620-7668.

As for Chrysler, it is recalling several of its Jeep vehicles due to various problems.
The 2001-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee is being recalled because of a problem with the heated-seat elements.
2002-2003 Jeep Liberty vehicles are being recalled because of a problem with the front suspension ball joint and the 2009 model year of the Commander, the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler 4x4 are being recalled because the airbags might not deploy due to a wiring problem.
Dealers will fix the problem at no charge. Owners can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

I just called Chrysler inquiring about my 2001 Jeep Cherokee recall on the heated seat mechanism, and was told this: "No Incomplete Recalls or Customer Satisfaction Notifications Exist." I also called a local Lansing Jeep dealership, and they knew nothing of it and to call back in a month. Although I appreciate WILX providing recall information, it seems to be inconsistant with what Jeep/Chrysler is telling its customers.

Now this is costing them how much?Stand behind your product, yes. With all the things that they must fix, says someone wasn't checking out something at the plant that made the cars.So stuff like this says what?Seems like with the pay some got to make cars this should of not happened. We can see why car companies got in so many messes.Pay high wages, hurry up to get cars made, get them sold for higher prices each year,Then have this huge recall?Well it will keep someone working to fix all this wrong stuff.1997 to2004 was alot of continued mistakes.Well not all these autos will need fixed, some sit in junk yards after accidents. Some are 2009.Wow why is GM having problems at who's expense with bail out money they are getting? At the price of cars they should be problems free.
