Consumer Alert: Ford Recall Reminder

The government wants owners of about 5 million recalled Ford vehicles to bring their cars and trucks to dealerships to repair a cruise control switch system that has been tied to engine fires.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a consumer advisory Tuesday to owners of certain unrepaired Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, vans and passenger cars who have not responded to previous recalls.
The government said about 12 million vehicles have been part of the recall and nearly 5 million still have not been fixed. A similar warning was issued in February but officials said the rate of the vehicles being repaired have declined.
A Ford spokesman says the company supports the government's efforts.

I agree with Brian! You would think that if they can't get people to bring their vehicles in then maybe they could do house calls and fix it on the spot. They know who has the vehicles that need to be fixed they should call and set up an appt to come to their work or home to fix the problem for free. Remember customer is always right!! Why the heck would we spend $30,000 on a new vehicle for anyway and then to find out they messed up on something and now that I own it they want me to spend my time and money to come in and have it fixed. Wake up it is the real world!!

Brian you would think that keeping you and your family safe would be a little higher that saving money on gas and a few miles... How hard is it to stop by a ford dealer Im sure you drive by a few a week. I know my child being safe sounds a lot better than saving a few bucks on gas and miles.

Let me see! Ford wants me to pay to drive my vehicle to the dealership to have something fixed that they screwed up? We are trying to conserve gas! Why doesn`t Ford bring a flatbed out and load it up and bring it back that way. No miles on my vehicle and no gas used on my part. Or Ford can give us money for mileage every time we bring it in for a recall. Maybe their safety would be a priority over design.
