Volkswagen Passat Investigation

The government has upgraded a safety investigation into nearly 500,000 Volkswagen Passats amid reports of engine fires.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has received 14 complaints of engine fires in Passats that include the 2001-2007 model years and 2006-2007 versions of the Passat Wagon.
The safety agency says on its website that it received reports of vehicles that hesitated or lost power, and the dashboard's check engine lights turned on.
