VP Contender Ryan Returning To Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan's latest Ohio campaign stop takes him to the eastern part of the battleground state.

It's a region where the Romney campaign thinks it can sway voters because of concerns about the economy and the future of the coal industry under President Barack Obama.

With less than three weeks until Election Day, Ryan plans a rally on Saturday at Valley View Campgrounds in Belmont. The Wisconsin congressman was last in the state Thursday.

Ohio's economically strapped Appalachian region was long overlooked by presidential campaigns, which chose to focus on Ohio's populous urban centers.

But since 2000, when the region helped George W. Bush win the bellwether state, it has received perennial attention.

Vice president Joe Biden visits the northeastern Ohio city of Canton Monday.
