TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan says Mitt Romney is ready to meet -- quote -- "serious challenges in a serious way, without excuses and idle words."
That's according to excerpts of the speech that were released before he was to deliver it late Wednesday.
The Republican congressman also says that he and Romney won't duck the tough issues and won't shirk from leading.
Ryan is pledging to solve the nation's economic problems and says -- quote -- "We don't have that much time."
