CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is calling on Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to release several more years of his tax returns, but did not repeat the unfounded claim that Romney hasn't paid income taxes for years.
Reid spoke Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention. On taxes, he described Romney as the biggest proponent of a rigged game for the wealthy.
He said looking at the one tax return that Romney has released shows why he is reluctant to release more, claiming that Romney chose Swiss bank accounts and Cayman Island tax shelters over American institutions. He said that Romney should release 12 years of tax returns like his father did when running for office.
Romney has said he would release a second year of tax returns before the election.

Do Democrats really think we're all that dumb? People who aren't employees don't pay 'income' tax. Mr. Romeny took no salary as Governor, nor as the head of the Olympics. Mr. Romeny lives off his many years' worth of investments, likely living off the interest being earned from those investments. He already paid taxes on that money, so why would Mr. Reid, or any other Democrat, think he should pay taxes on it again? Mr. Reid, and the Democrats, would like all of us to be jealous of Mr. Romney's success, or anyone else who has become successful. He wants us to demand they 'share' what they've worked hard for and earned with those who didn't. Sorry, Mr. Reid, but I admire successful people and want to emulate them.
