STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- A former Penn State administrator awaiting trial on charges he lied to a grand jury about Jerry Sandusky and didn't properly report suspected child abuse is asking the university trustees to hold off renaming a child care center that bears his name.
The Centre Daily Times on Thursday reported (http://bit.ly/U9uMRd ) Gary Schultz's lawyer wrote the board to ask them to wait until after his January trial.
The letter from Tom Farrell cites Penn State's interests and Schultz's status as man facing charges who has not been convicted.
The Gary Schultz Child Care Center at Hort Woods was dedicated a year ago, about two months before Schultz and athletic director Tim Curley were charged for their response to the scandal.
The center's naming is on the trustees' agenda for Friday.
