A Texas sheriff says the suspect in a stabbing attack at a Houston-area college is a man believed to be about 21-years-old who is enrolled at the school.

More than a dozen people were wounded in the Tuesday attack on the Lone Star Community College System's campus in Cypress.
Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia says officers responded to the campus after receiving a call about a white male "on the loose" stabbing people.
Garcia says the suspect is in custody.

Officials say at least 14 people have been wounded in a stabbing attack at Houston-area college campus.

The Harris County Sheriff's department confirmed at least 14 people were wounded in the attack Tuesday on the Lone Star Community College System's campus in Cypress.

Authorities say at least four of those injured were taken by medical helicopter to hospitals in critical condition. Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department spokesman Robert Rasa says several patients refused treatment at the scene and all the wounds were consistent with stabbing.

Harris County Sheriff's Office spokesman Thomas Gilliland says authorities don't believe a second suspect was involved. Lone Star had earlier posted an alert on its website warning of two armed suspects.

This country has a violence problem and a bunch of elected officials that are either inept or too afraid to address the root cause. “If there is even one thing we can do to prevent any of these events, we have a deep obligation – all of us – to try,” Obama said. NYDailyNews 12/19/12 The only thing that has even been discussed or passed at the State level is more gun control. Do they really believe that another gun law will stop a criminal or mentally ill person? The problem is not guns or knives, a little research will show that the problems are the break down of the family unit, drugs, gangs, poverty and welfare.

With the number of victims involved, it sounds as if the suspect used an assault knife. Clearly, it's time to ban knives - or at least limit the amount of cuts or stabs each blade can make to 10.

So gun control laws (for or against) were clearly not involved here, so what do we do about it? Why are we one of the most violent industrialized countries in the world? We lead the world in highest number of violent deaths, highest number of assaults, highest number of reported rapes, highest number of people being beaten to death with a baseball bat...Something has to be done.
